WINTER BOOST FOR BRITAIN’S 4x4 SALES

The treacherous road conditions experienced over the last month have helped to boost Land Rover sales in the UK, with registrations for January up by an impressive 58 per cent compared with the same month last year.

The latest version of the Discovery is doing particularly well, with January sales up by 92 per cent, followed by an increase in Range Rover Sport registrations of 66 per cent. Freelander and Range Rover also increased sales significantly – at 57 and 24 per cent respectively.

There was finally some good news for Jeep too, the American 4x4 manufacturer seeing its UK January sales increase by no less than 203 per cent – thanks to registrations for the month of 170, compared with just 56 vehicles in January 2009.

Subaru was also reporting good news, with total UK sales of 218 cars in January – a 56 per cent increase on the 139 sold during the same month last year.
